Leon Sistrunk

Leon Sistrunk, 75, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. Leon was in the Army from 1967 - 1972 and served our country with honor and courage. He loved his parents Mr. Blue and Mrs. Sadie. He loved his only daughter April. He was a steel worker and always loved giving orders, cutting up cars, and spending time at his fathers junkyard. Leon will truly be missed by anyone and everyone who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on September 10, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to Leslie and Lucille (Brown) Sistrunk. He is preceded in death by his Father, Leslie Sistrunk, Mother, Lucille Sistrunk, Siblings, Keith Sistrunk, Willie Sistrunk, Doris Ann Steavison, Gail Senter, Nephew, Timothy Greer, and Niece, Anjanette Nicole Senter.

Leon is survived by his loving family, Step-Mother, Sadie M. Sistrunk; Daughter, April Shepherd; Siblings, Roscoe (Sukie) Sistrunk, Valery (Ulysses) Bellamy, Lisa (Ivory) Miller, Harold Welch, Faye Knight, Susie Woodford, and Ricky Welch; Nieces and Nephews, Celestine (Kevin) Woodson, Andrea Steavison-Johnson, Michael Sistrunk, Monti Jackson, Faithia Cain, Glennisha Greer, Leslie Sistrunk, Tyesha Senter, and Cynthia Page; Girlfriend, Carolyn, as well as a host of cousins, family, and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.

The family requests that contributions in Leon's memory be made to Wounded Warriors Project.
