Leo Niehoff, Sr.

Leo Anthony Niehoff, Sr., 83, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014. He was a United States Marine veteran and a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Leo was also a member of the American Legion Post 35 in Jeffersonville and the VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach in New Albany.
He was born on November 25, 1930 in Floyds Knobs to the late Herman and Zita (Book) Niehoff. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Bernard Niehoff and Anna Andres.
Leo is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Mildred (Andres) Niehoff; children, Janice Schneider, Diana Traub (Barry), Leo Niehoff, Jr. (Alice); sister, Mary Elizabeth Schneider (Earl); grandchildren, Brian Niehoff (Lauren), Larissa Braun (Michael), Eric Traub, Kimberly Traub, Nathan Schneider (Jennifer); and great-grandchildren, Julianne Traub, Madalynn Schneider, Emma Schneider, Colin Braun, and Olivia Kahl.
Visitation will take place from 10 AM to 8 PM on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday in the chapel at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119) with burial and military honors to follow in the church cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675).
