Leo Eugene Eicher, 78, of New Albany, Indiana passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2024. “Lee” was born on September 14,1945, to Leo George and Martha Louise (Vernia) Eicher at the old St. Edwards Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. He graduated from New Albany High School in 1963.

From an early age, Lee was an avid car lover. He was also an amateur racer who gained quite the collection of winning trophies. Lee had many cars over the course of his lifetime including 11 vintage corvettes and he had a special fondness for station wagons.

Lee began an automotive sales career at New Albany Motors which later became Coyle Chevrolet. He spent a number of years at Graf Dodge before opening his own used car lot. In the 1990’s he opened a new automotive business in partnership with his brother, K & L Customs. The business specialized in custom wheels and tires. Finally, moving into retirement Lee found a new hobby - auctions. Bidding, buying, and selling brought him much joy.

Lee is survived by his loving partner, Marsha Sands; daughter, Carol Aponte (Chris); step-sons, Michael Schellenberger (Nancy) and Mark Schellenberger (Marilyn); Grandchildren, Ashlyn Shepherd (Jordan), Kyler Anderson, David Schellenberger (Maggie) and Denim Kampschaefer (Eric). Lee was preceded in death by wife, Carol Sue Eicher.

Cremation was chosen by Lee and a memorial service will be held at Floyds Knobs Christian Church on June 7, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Following the memorial service, friends and family are invited to gather for food, drinks, and to share memories.

In honor of Lee’s memory, donations are requested for Hope Southern Indiana. Another way to honor Lee is to pay it forward with a random act of kindness.
