Leo J. Blackburn, Sr., age 63 went to our true home with Jesus on October 18th 2023 in the most peaceful transition ever. Born on April 06, 1960 in Fort Knox, KY., he was a talented Machinist who served in many roles. He built military equipment with Naval Ordinance, assisted surgeons with replacing hips by building titanium hips onsite and taught many many people his trade at Jefferson Technical where he retired from.
Leo served in many capacities thru his years thru coaching and volunteering thru different routes. An example of Leo's love is that he befriended "Dorothy" a resident at a local nursing home who had no family. Leo did not like to speak of these activities, but his heart was just too big for this world.
Leo's true passion was his farm in Salem, IN which he managed and grew for over 25 years. He opened this farm for all, never once claiming it as "his own". What brought him the greatest joy is seeing others truly enjoy themselves. When Leo put his heart into something he did it 1000% and everyone knew about it. Leos great talent was bringing people together. Wherever he went you can ensure a crowd would soon appear. Leo would want anyone reading his obit to live life to the fullest. He would say "Party to the maximus of hemoglobins and rokobunkles!!. Never grow up!
Leo will be missed greatly. Not only was he a light in this world, he was a major explosion! Truly one of a kind.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents Pauline and Elmer Blackburn and a beautiful sister Mary.
Leo is survived by his wife of 42 years, Amy; son, Leo Blackburn Jr. (Megan); granddaughter, Andrea Blackburn; and grandson, Liam. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Virginia, Elmer, Michael, Barbara, Paul and Pauline; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention.
