Lendell "Slim" Maddox Sr., 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Slim enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He loved spending time with friends and family and especially his grandchildren. Slim graduated from Drakesboro Community High School. After High School Slim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served during and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He then came back to Kentucky and started working for General Electric from 1964-1968. Slim then went to work for Ford Motor Company and worked there from 1968 until his retirement in 1998. Slim then retired and enjoyed his family time, having cookouts, and going hunting and fishing. He was a proud Husband, Father, Grandfather, and was a Father figure to so many young people. Slim will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was born on January 15, 1942 in Drakesboro, Kentucky to Willie and Loraine (Hines) Maddox. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Son, Jamaal Maddox, Sr., Grandson, Jamaal Maddox Jr., Brothers, Willie Maddox Jr., and Charles Maddox, Sister, Mary Elizabeth Holmes.
Slim is survived by his loving Wife, Violet Maddox, Daughter, Renee Yore, Sons, Lendell Maddox Jr. (Kenya Rollins), Kareem (Dontee') Maddox, Son, Kwasi Maddox (Tasha Stevens), Brother, Willie Lee (Marie) Jernigan, Grandchildren, Vilis, Brianna (George), William IV, Kareem Jr., Dionna, Kameron, Tyler, Shane, Kaliyah, Kori, and Daija, Great Grandchildren, Jada, and Skylar, Sister-In-Laws, Iola Cocanougher, and Bertha Wilford. Slim also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Extended Family.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial and Military Honors to follow at Green Meadows Cemetery.
