Lavonne Kay (Burr) Cowherd

LaVonne Kay (Burr) Cowherd, 69, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022. She retired from the Census Bureau and was a member of St. John Divine Pure Gospel Church, where she served as a Deaconess.

She was born on April 11, 1953, in Scottsburg, Indiana, to James Earl, Sr., and Anita (Wilkerson) Burr. In addition to her parents, LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Cowherd; and sisters, Joy Owens, Teresa Quarles, Brenda Burr, and Anita Burr.

LaVonne is survived by her children, Kevin Cowherd, Vanessa Cowherd, Terrance Cowherd, and Shedeana Edelen; brother, John Owens; grandchildren, Erika Acton, Savannah Jaggers-Cowherd, Aniyah Jaggers-Cowherd, Charmiane Walker, Terri Palazzo, Serena Cowherd, Brandon Frazer, and Marqul Hayes; great-grandchildren, Kayden and Zavien; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews, whom she loved dearly.

Her funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with burial to follow at Eastern Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
