Laura Elizabeth Clay

November 3, 1951 — April 14, 2025

Louisville

Laura Elizabeth Clay, a cherished member of her family and the community, entered the Pearly Gates peacefully, on April 14, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on November 3, 1951, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Laura dedicated her life to caring for others, a commitment that was reflected in both her personal life and her esteemed career as a nurse. For many years, she showcased her exceptional skills at Manning Hospital, where her compassion and dedication made a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues alike.

Laura's educational journey began at Little Rock High School, where she laid the foundation for her future in nursing. She went on to attend nursing school and earned an associate's degree, a testament to her passion for helping those in need. Her professional life was a perfect reflection of her nurturing spirit, and her legacy of care will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.

As a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Laura found her greatest joy in watching her family grow. Her pride in her children and grandchildren was immeasurable; they were the center of her universe. Laura is survived by her daughter, Kellie (Darrin) Edlin; son, Casey (Leah) Davis; sister, Eileen (George) Chappell; brother, Grady (Jo) Butler; sister, Susan (Rev. David) Bagwell; and sister, Amy (Kevin) Nydam. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Matt) Arnold, Peyton (Patrick) Hardin, Alex Davis, Sarah (Cody) King, and Hannah Edlin, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ada Arnold, Paisleigh Hardin, Leah King, and Paxton Hardin.

In her warm and compassionate manner, Laura opened her heart and home to family and friends alike. She enjoyed taking care of those around her, whether it was through her nursing career or hosting tea parties with her grandchildren. Her love for singing and reading filled her days with joy, while her unwavering faith grounded her spirit and guided her through life.

Christ welcomed, her father, Archie Benjamin Clay; mother, Evelyn Elizabeth Clay; son, Christopher Davis; and sisters, Donna Thomas and Catherine Hope Clay, preparing a place for her. They welcomed her into the gates of heaven, where her loving nature and light will surely shine ever brighter.

We invite all those whose lives have been touched by Laura’s kindness to join us in celebrating her remarkable life. A memorial gathering will take place on May 5, 2025, at the Evangel World Prayer Center, 6900 Billtown Rd, Louisville, KY 40299, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
