Latrell Douglas Ware

January 30, 1968 — June 14, 2022

Latrell Douglas Ware was born on January 30, 1968, in Plattsburgh, New York to the late Johnny Ware and Kathryn Thomas. As a young child, Latrell later moved to St Louis, Missouri with his mother to be closer to family where there was always an abundance of love and support. His father, Johnny, instilled strong values of responsibility, duty and community engagement. His mother encouraged his love of Christianity by supporting him when he accepted Christ at a young age. He was baptized by his maternal grandfather, the late Rev. Chester D. Thigpen at Antioch Baptist Church, in Taylorsville, Mississippi. Later in his teenage years, he often served as a peer mentor in several bible study groups within the St Louis Metro Area. Throughout his childhood, "Trell" was always known for his athletic ability. Among his friends and family, it was said, no one could jump higher or run faster, but he always stayed humble in his abilities.

Latrell attended McClure High School where he excelled in basketball, track and football throughout his years there. He was the top all-around running back within the St Louis Metro Area. His senior year he served as the President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, voted McClure Comets Prom King and Best Personality. In 1987, he graduated from McClure High School in Ferguson, Missouri. Latrell was heavily recruited by many college athletic programs because of his athletic abilities. Yet he accepted Louisville's full ride football scholarship. After enrolling, he declared his major as Marketing. The Cardinals became his family away from home. Latrell displayed perseverance, dedication and commitment, solidifying his position on the team. He went on to play with the Louisville Cardinals for several seasons, including his spectacular 70-yard touchdown interception from teammate Browning Nagle at 1991 Fiesta Bowl, bringing home the title.

In 1995 and 1998 two of his proudest moments, were becoming a father to his beautiful daughters, Lalah and Nilah by his first wife, Shonta Shanks. He later married Shelly Ware, having their baby girl, Jasmine in 2012. Latrell was a loving and devoted father to his girls, making up silly songs, horse playing, and treating them like princesses. While instilling in them core values of family, hard work, dedication, and grit.

Latrell worked for Charter Communications, later being renamed Spectrum. Latrell advanced and led various departments showing his dedication and commitment for over 17 years with the company. Latrell's love for music started early in life when first hearing DJ Dougie Fresh and Run DMC. The process and work involved in creating music always fascinated him. Latrell loved what music could do from celebration of fellowship, to feeding
the soul, and mending hearts. His passion for music fueled his desire of becoming a DJ. As Latrell learned the craft he advanced in his skills, invested in equipment, and studied other Dj's both in person and via online. This combination of hands on experience put him in position to start taking on gigs. Growing his small business that led him to be known as DJTrellmix. The joy he felt would show from inside out when he perfectly mixed songs also known as a "Blend" or "Mashup". His face would light up and couldn't help but bop to the music, do a little dance, and yell "Yeah, DJTrellmix Let's Go!!!
