Larry Jon Moore

Larry Jon Moore, 80, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on May 2, 2024. He was born on October 18, 1943 in Washington County, Indiana to John and Pauline (Kirk) Moore. Larry was a 1962 graduate of Hardinsburg High School and went on to serve in the National Guard.

He worked as a barber at shops in the Okolona, Shively, Jeffersonville, and Clarksville communities, and later would retire as the owner of Larry's Barbershop in New Albany. On August 11, 1996, Larry was blessed to receive a second chance of life as the recipient of a heart transplant.

Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, twin, Gary Don Moore, Morris Moore (Iris); sisters, Francis Henderson (John), Marilyn Vanlaningham (Harry); brother-in-law, Ernie Farabee; and his beloved fur baby, Lucky. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandra Moore; sister, Darlene Farabee; many nieces and nephews; and friends that were like family, Richard and Denise Phelps, Barbara Hanka and Daren Striegel.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Wednesday after 9:00 a.m. His funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kansas Church of Christ Church Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the New Albany-Floyd County Animal Shelter (215 W. Market Street, New Albany, IN 47150).
