Larry Joe Grube, age 80, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022. Larry was born on December 6, 1942, to the late Albert "Fritz" Grube and Juanita (Patterson) Grube. Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his two brothers, Fred Grube and Michael Grube.
He was a 1961 graduate of New Albany High School, where he played the tuba in the band, wrestled, and played football. He loved all things NAHS and never missed a girls' or boys' basketball game (even the JV) or a girls' volleyball game.
Larry proudly served in the United States Navy for four years. He was a retiree of The Pillsbury Co., where he worked 45 years and attained the #1 seniority position of the plant.
Larry's special talent and first love was music of all kinds, both playing instruments and repairing them. He installed many sound systems, which were his specialty.
He tirelessly volunteered his services to the New Albany Harvest Homecoming Committee and to the Holy Family Lip Synch over the years. Even though Larry was not a Catholic, he sent his children to Catholic schools and provided a lovely bass voice to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Choir.
Larry is survived by his son, Aaron Grube; daughters, Alli Grube and Amy (Keith) Banet; grandchildren, Grace (Jordan Sweet) Banet and Alex Banet; sisters, Diane Taylor and Cherie (Nick) Scott; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Memorial Service will be at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
