Larry Gehlbach, born on January 30, 1942, in Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on September 17 2024.
Larry found joy in nature, cherishing every opportunity to explore the outdoors. His love for fly fishing and hiking reflected his spirit of adventure and his appreciation for the beauty of the world around him. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany and a past member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his beloved children, Connie (Brian) Walter, Jonathan (Stacy) Gehlbach, Timothy (Colleen) Gehlbach, and Andrea Mason. Larry took great pride in his role as a grandfather to his grandchildren: Jordan Gehlbach, Dylan (Kaylee) Gehlbach, Marcus (Erica) Walter, Haylie (Logan) Clark, Avery Mason, Melea Mason, and Adam Gehlbach. He was also a loving great-grandfather to Conrad Walter, Chandler Walter, and Ryder Gehlbach. Larry is further survived by his siblings, Janet Gehlbach, Linda (Harold) Boyd, and Paul (Terri) Gehlbach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Gehlbach and Rita Waiz Gehlbach, as well as his cherished wife, Carolyn Gehlbach, and his step-mother, Delores Gehlbach. Larry will be remembered fondly for his warmth, kindness, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the memories that will forever be cherished by family and friends.
Cremation was chosen following Larry's wishes. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday, October 4, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church (415 E 8th St, New Albany, IN 47150).
