Larry Clemons

Larry Clemons, 82, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024. He had a lifelong passion for racing, having competed all across the United States in various types of cars. Larry also had many business endeavors that included being the owner of Able Mold Inspections and General Waterproofing & Mold Remediation. He operated several kennels, was a builder of underground homes/structures and had previously owned and restored both The Grand and The White House in downtown New Albany.

In his younger years, Larry worked for the Floyd County Sheriff's Department, where he was instrumental in creating the K-9 unit. Most recently, Larry entered into a partnership with LaTonya Booker to start Home Away from Home, which primarily concentrates on veteran foster care services. 

He was born on January 21, 1942 in Wax, Kentucky to Clevie Clemons and Idella (Dennis) DeWeese. Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Rowena; sister, Ruth Carden; and brother, David "Wiff" Clemons.

Larry is survived by his children, Mendy McIntosh (John), Josh Clemons (Nicole), Pam Blanco, Diana Clifford (Buster), Billy Kime; brothers, Bill, Crawford "Corky," Jerry Clemons; sisters, Wanda Whobrey, Kay "Tootie" Schuler; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Wednesday after 9:00 a.m. His funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Friendship Cemetery in New Albany.
