Larry Steven Carter, Sr.

Larry Steven Carter, Sr., 77, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Larry was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Papaw. He was kind, thoughtful, and willing to help anyone in need. Larry enjoyed spending time watching westerns and golf on TV. Most importantly, he loved hosting his guests and making memories with his family. Larry will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on February 21, 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama to Chester and Delores Norris. He is preceded in death by his father, Chester Norris; mother, Delores Similey; daughter, Angela M. Glass; brother, James Norris; and sister, Donna Smith.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Ruth E. Carter; five children, Larry (Suzanne) Carter, Jr., Mark S. Carter, Lisa Gayle (James) Standard, Sara Beth Cutsinger; two step-children, Theodore (Marley) Beckmann, Deanna (Terry) Popplewell; sisters, Linda Rath, Debbie (Richard) Karnes; brother, David Similey; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel.

The family requests that contributions in Larry’s memory be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
