Larry Barrett, 75, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was born on July 17, 1948 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Bruce and Sophia (Brewer) Barrett. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Barrett Barger, brother, Garry Barrett and brothers-in-law, Phillip Wolfe, Fred Napier, Junior Napier and Darrell Napier.
Larry served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, where he received the Bronze Star Medal, two Air Medals and the Merit Medal. Larry worked and retired from Integral Structures after 44 years.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Verda Barrett, three children, Tony Barrett (Tiffany), Michelle Keyes (Eddie), David Barrett (Savanna), grandchildren, Taylor Barrett, Kailey Shafer (Tristan), Kenzie Waldkoetter, Paige Barrett, Parker Barrett, Hunter Barrett, Sydney Waldkoetter, Arianna Keyes, Eddie Keyes, Tyson Mains, Emma Mains, Alana Keyes, Averie Keyes, and two great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Baylen Shafer.
He is also survived by his siblings, Brenda Barrett Campbell (Gary), Darlene Barrett, Kenneth Barrett (Judy), Lynette Barrett Wolfe, Teresa Barrett Cole (Jerry), Jeff Barrett (Paige), Jerry Barrett, Gregory Barrett (Jane), brothers-in-law, Benny Barger, Kenneth Napier and sisters-in-law, Nanetta Barrett, Vickie Napier, Becky Napier, Sharon Napier and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home (465 West McClain Avenue, Scottsburg, IN 47170).
Visitation will also be on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 9:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am at Collins Funeral Home (465 West McClain Avenue, Scottsburg, IN 47170) with burial to follow at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Indiana.
