Lamonte Dewayne Owens was born on October 18, 1970, in Louisville, KY to R.D. Owens Jr and the late Dorothy Chambers. He departed from this earth on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Lamonte was very loveable, friendly, and he had a laugh that was contagious with a voice that would echo in any room. Throughout life's journey, he never met a stranger and would talk to anyone that he met. He was a devoted father to his son Aaren and always talked about him. Lamonte was truly a family man. He enjoyed being a son, big brother, father and a friend. He was very protective of the people that he loved, especially his little sisters. He was loved by all who knew him.
Lamonte accepted Christ at Liberty Temple Church when he was 10 years old and became a member of Prince of Peace MBC in 2008. He was a hard worker and was very good with his hands. He was dedicated to being a good provider for his family and also friends who were in need. He had a heart of gold and the joy of the Lord was evident in his life. Lamonte definitely let his light shine everywhere he went.
Lamonte leaves to cherish his memories, his son: Aaren Lamonte Owens (Karen Pacey Owens, mother), his parents: R.D. and Karen Owens Jr., his fiance: Kimberly Porter (and her daughter Brianna Singelais), two brothers: Tarrence Owens (Julia Conner) and R.D. Owens 3rd, two sisters: Amberia Owens (Jomall Owens Sr.) and Jocelyn Owens, two nieces: Alexus Owens and Aaliyah Conner, four nephews: Alijah Owens, Caleb Owens, Jomall Owens Jr., and Jayce Owens and a host of many cousins and friends. He had a special relationship with his cousin LeeAnnette Kinnaird. They were practical jokesters, partners in crime, and best friends. Lamonte is preceded in death by his biological mother Dorothy Gilliard Chambers and his grandparents R.D and L. Lee Owens Sr.
The funeral services will be on Saturday, September 7 at Liberty Temple Church, located at 1628 West Market Street, Louisville, KY. The visitation will be from 10am – 12pm and the funeral will begin at 12pm. Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane New Albany, In.) will be handling all arrangements.
