Kyle Royce Ridout, 66, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Kyle was born on August 26, 1957, in San Jose, California, to the late Charles Ridout and Mary Joe Ridout. He grew up in Sunnyvale, CA and was a graduate of Sunnyvale High School. He attended the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington where he met and married his wife Susan Ramp Ridout, before earning a Bachelor's Degree majoring in Vocal Performance.
Kyle chose to follow his passion by building a career in the performing arts. He spent 17 years as the manager of the Paul. W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center at Indiana University Southeast. Prior to that he served as Executive Director of Nashville Opera and Company Manager of Kentucky Opera.
Kyle had a rich array of hobbies and friendships. He connected with many over his love of cooking, books, the arts, gardening, and travel. He loved serving others in his community and across the world, often giving generously to others and volunteering his time with his soup kitchen team, the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, and various arts and community organizations.
Along with his parents, Kyle is preceded in death by his brother, Bill Johnson, and nephew, Brennan Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Susan Ridout; cherished son and daughter, Patrick Ridout and Emily Ridout; brother, Joe (Chrissy) Johnson; sister, Andrea (Frank) Spicka; sister-in-law, Mary Johnson; and several aunts, cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
His kindness, generosity, and humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation (1:00 pm-3:00 pm) and Celebration of Life service (3:00 pm) will be held Sunday, September 10, 2023, at St. Marks United Church of Christ (222 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN).
