Kitchell Stiles Barrett

Kitchell Barrett, 60, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. Kitchell was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Georgetown, Indiana, for many years. She enjoyed puzzles, bowling, and fishing. She was also a fan of University of Louisville. Above all, Kitchell loved her family. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

She was born on November 1, 1962, in Louisville, Kentucky, to James and Lydia (Tarpley) Dowd. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, William E. Barrett; and her son, Keith Barrett.

Kitchell is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Barrett; sons, Peter Knight and Michael (Terry) Barrett; mother, Lydia H. Tarpley; grandson, Brandon Barrett; granddaughters, Samantha Meek, Destiny Barrett, and Peyton Poe; sisters, Jimmye Atkins and Patricia Rouse; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and friends.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the funeral home.

The family requests that contributions in Kitchell's memory be made to Highland Baptist Church (1305 Edwardsville-Galena Road, Georgetown, IN 47122).
