Kevin Osting, a cherished member of the Louisville community and a devoted family man, passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on February 5, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky, he spent his life making lasting memories with those he loved.
A graduate of Doss High School, class of 1975, Kevin built a successful career in the automotive industry, dedicating many years to Advance Auto Parts as both the Parts Manager and District Manager. His commitment to excellence in his profession was evident to all who worked alongside him.
Kevin was not only a hardworking man but also a loving and dedicated father and husband. He shared 50 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife and co-pilot, Vickie Osting. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home where family vacations and cherished moments were abundant. Kevin took great pride in maintaining their home, building a fireplace in the backyard for his family to enjoy.
His passion for cooking was well-known among family and friends. Kevin loved grilling and cooking on the smoker, bringing everyone together around the table for unforgettable meals. His personality shone brightly, known for being kind, welcoming, and having a great sense of humor. He found joy in simple pleasures, talking to his neighbors whether sitting on the front porch conversing with his neighbor, Mr. Owens, or eagerly awaiting his daily tomato delivery from neighbor and friend, Leonard Blanchard.
Kevin's nurturing spirit extended beyond his immediate family. He had a special bond with his God Child, Mattie Higgins, and took pride in loving his nieces, nephews, and his nephew Jamie with whom he shared a fondness for RC Cars. He relished working alongside his brother-in-law, Bob, at the St. Athanasius sports fields, further illustrating the importance of family and community in his life.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Vickie Osting; son-in-law, Tim Moore, brothers, Thomas L. Osting, Sr. (Barbara), Gerald L. Keyes, Sr. (Cathy); sisters, Martha Keating (Joe), Deborah Haynes (Bob), and Paula Fleitz; as well as sisters-in-law, Susan Osting and Karen Osting. He is also survived by 14 cherished nieces and nephews who will hold his memory dear.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Osting Sr. and Elona Osting; his daughter, Cheryl Lynn Osting Moore; and his brothers, Melvin L. Osting, Jr., Frank Osting, Wayne Osting, Dennis Osting, Steve Osting, and sister, Kathy Osting.
Visitation will be held on January 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 12:00 PM at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, located at 5915 Outer Loop, Louisville, KY 40219. Burial will follow at Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood, KY.
Kevin Osting will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his infectious laugh, and his genuine love for those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and joy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
