Kevin DeWayne Bunnell, 60, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
He was born on March 8, 1962 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Joseph and Wanda (Raymer) Johnson. Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Williard (Lucy) Raymer, paternal grandparents, Sanford (Thelma) Johnson, and his aunts and uncles.
Kevin proudly served our Country while enlisted in the U.S. Army (1981-1991), he was a member of Victory General Baptist Church. Kevin enjoyed fishing, camping, going to the gun range and traveling in his free time. His family was everything to him; he loved spending time with his grandkids, helping take care of his mother and spending time with the woman he adored, Cheryl. He has a heart a gold and a care giver mentality; being in the health care field for 28 years and taking care others was his passion. His time on this earth was short, but the time he had he made the most of. Kevin leaves a strong legacy of love and faith in the Lord that his family will carry on.
Kevin is survived by his loving mother, Wanda L. Johnson, daughters, Lisa Howell (Austyn) and Jessica Pryor (Jamal), sister, Tammy (John) Tannehill, grandchildren, Trenton, Alay'Jah, Aniah, Jayden, Kailey and Leland, his fiancé, Cheryl Taylor, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 31st at Newcomer Funeral Home (10304 Dixie Hwy). A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 1:00 on Tuesday. Kevin will be laid to rest with military honors at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY after the funeral service.
The family requests that contributions in Kevin's memory be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
