Kenneth "Gene" Eugene Lawrence

Kenneth Eugene "Gene" Lawrence, 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024. 

He was born on February 7, 1936 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William and Margaret (Grammer) Lawrence. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Carleen Lawrence, children, Janet Marie Clephas, Peggy Sue Wayland, Peter Alan Lawrence, brother, Jim Lawrence and son-in-law, Randy Wayland. 

He was the co-owner of Johnson-Lawrence-Walker Insurance Agency and was a member of Valley View Baptist Church. Gene was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. 

Gene is survived by his loving siblings, William E. Lawrence, Jr., Jerry Lawrence (Vikki), Wayne Lawrence (Ginny), Larry Lawrence (Pat), Barbara Swisher, Bob Lawrence (Linda), son-in-law, Jerry Clephas, grandchildren, Erin Clephas-Schulz (Nathan), Amie Carney (Dusty), Kevin Wayland and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and special friends and caregivers, Donna & Wayne Bruner. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243). 

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in Gene’s memory be made to The Southwest Center (8009 Terry Road Louisville, KY 40258) where his son Peter Alan spent many wonderful years.
