Kenneth Edward Cooke

Kenneth Edward Cooke, 73, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023. He retired from the United States Army with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Upon retirement, Ken began working for Securitas, where he made many good friends. Over the past few years, Ken developed a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. He enjoyed feeding hummingbirds, going fishing, and working out in his yard.

He was born on January 19, 1950, in New Albany, Indiana, to Elbert and Naomi (Turner) Cooke. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Cooke; and lifelong best friend, Mark Forler.

Ken is survived by his daughter, Kristine Anderson (Chris); siblings, Bill Cooke (Carolyn), Gloria Smith, Tony Cooke (Cecilia), Angela Schmidt (Tony), Diane Adams (Ralph), Jeffrey Cooke, and Tim Cooke; grandchildren, Kaitlin Howell (Wesley), Megan Anderson (Dylan Fogg), and Christian Anderson; great-grandson, Kayden Fogg; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Buddy.

Ken's wish was to be cremated. A graveside service with military honors will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023, at New Albany National Cemetery (1943 Ekin Avenue, New Albany).

Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
