Katy (Westbrook) Priddy, 62, passed away from breast cancer, Christmas morning, December 25, 2011 in her warm bed at home in New Albany, IN, with family by her side.
Katy was born 'Ann Kathleen Westbrook' on June 25, 1949 to the late Thomas E. and Mary J. (Rudd) Westbrook and grew up as one of twelve siblings in the Clifton Heights Neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. Growing up "on the hill" during a time when neighborhoods were known as much by their location as the families that lived in them, Katy was blessed to have a family brimming with love, compassion and creativity. It was during these years that Katy would first meet Howard Lee Priddy, a boy that would grow into the man who would marry her and share many loving, warm, and devoted years with her. Together they raised two children Jane Kathleen Ford (Lee) of Louisville, KY and Joshua Lee Priddy (Sondra) of Sellersburg, IN. She did many great things in her life, and was the kind of mother whom wrote loving notes for her children to find in their lunches, taught them the value of love and family over money, and instilled in them a legacy of love which will be passed on for generations to come.
For the past 10 years she had been employed at Mercer Transportation and was a member of Northside Christian Church.
Along with her children and their father, Katy is survived by siblings, Melinda Moore, Bruce Westbrook, Jon Westbrook, Mary Pardon, Andrew Westbrook, Ellen Roberts, Karen Carter, Mark Westbrook, Laura Ballard and Lisa Adams; grandchildren Tyler Lee Priddy, Abbey Lane Priddy, Savannah Leigh Ford & Kristopher Thomas Ford. In addition to her parents, Katy is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Bauman & her brother Thomas Westbrook.
A Memorial visitation will be from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Memorial Service will be at 7 PM at the funeral home.
Donations in Katy's memory may be made to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation.
