Katie Mary(Wells) Lawson

Katie Mary (Wells) Lawson, 95, passed July 13, 2012. Katie was a retired teacher for the Greater Clark School Corporation. She was born August 15, 1916 in Logan County, KY to Caroline Bowyer Wells and Tommie Wells. Katie was a 1935 graduate of Taylor High School in Jeffersonville. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Education from Kentucky State University and later earned a Masters in Education from Ball State University. Katie was a member of Gilt Edge Baptist Church and St. John's Division Full Gospel Church.

Katie is survived by her cousins and their children Joyce Pursiful, Mamie Griffith, Charles Bowyer, and Joseph Bowyer. She also leaves her long term care giver Deneen Taylor.

Visitation will be from 9 AM to 11 AM on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Gilt Edge Baptist Church (1713 Green Street, Jeffersonville, IN) with her funeral service taking place at 11 AM. Katie will be laid to rest at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
