Kathleen Vaughan Chester

July 27, 1950 — July 13, 2024

Louisville, KY

Kathleen Vaughan Chester, age 73, walked into the arms of Jesus on July 13, 2024.

Kathleen was born in Virginia on July 27, 1950, to the late Colonel James and Dorothy Vaughan. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Angela (Marcus) Blankenship of Nancy, KY and her two grandsons, Eastin and Braxton . She is also survived by her younger sister, Julie (Nathan) Williams of Papillion,NE , niece Sarah Conaway and nephew James (Stephanie) Williams. She leaves behind her beloved aunt, Anne Roane Parker of Maryland. She also will be greatly missed by her best friend, Karen (Gene) Doyle and their family in Lexington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Chester in 2008.

A special thank you to Louisville East Post Acute in Louisville, KY and to her dedicated guardians, Ann Loggins and Esther Hurlburt.

Kathleen was an avid lover of coffee (most wouldn’t dare give her decaf), horses, birds, cooking, and chocolate of any variety. But most importantly she loved to tell others about Jesus. Kathleen’s idea of a “perfect” life changed suddenly in 2001 when she suffered a massive stroke. Although the events of those years were hard for her, she found herself in the perfect position to preach and pray for everyone she encountered. Kathleen was able to sing before she could talk again, and she would sing His praises for hours, even at her lowest. Kathleen allowed God to use her where she was. She found contentment in her life, and she would want anyone reading this to know that they are loved, worthy, and have a “beautiful heart” as she used to tell us.

2 Timothy 4:6-8 says, “ I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day- and not only to me, but also to all those who have longed for his appearing."

The family plans to celebrate her life with a birthday party, dessert only (as she would have it) on July 27, 2024 at the Doyle’s in Nicholasville, KY.
