Katherine Elaine (Jaggers) Sutherland

Katherine "Elaine" (Jaggers) Sutherland, 86, of Elizabeth, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. She had a strong Christian faith and loved Jesus with all of her heart. Elaine enjoyed singing, listening to gospel music, and spoiling her grandchildren. She liked cooking meals for her family, tending to the flowers in her yard, and bird watching.

She was born on November 26, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Elmer and Edna (Vest) Jaggers. In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; sisters, Delores Savage and June Kircher; grandsons, Zachary Sutherland and Jamie Coker; and great-grandchildren, Hank Sutherland and Tawny LaCroix.

Elaine is survived by her sons, Randy (Vivian), Michael (Rita), Roger (Ella), Donnie (Cathy), and Jamie (Denise) Sutherland; daughters, Teri Sutherland, Missi Gehlbach (Vernon), and Beth Hess (Bruce, Jr.); sisters, Trudy Patrick (Ed) and Dottie Young; 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Wednesday after 9:00 a.m. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.

Contributions in Elaine's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
