Kandice Smith, 37, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022. She loved spending time out in the outdoors especially hiking and camping. So much so, that she graduated from Eastern Kentucky University as the first Black female geoscientist, with a bachelor's degree in geology.
She was born on June 24, 1985, in Louisville, Kentucky to parents Karen Smith and Jeffrey Thompson Sr. Kandice was a loving daughter, sister, niece, aunt and cousin. She is survived by her loving mother Karen Smith and loving father Jeffrey Thompson Sr. Sibling's Jeffrey Thompson Jr., Kieron Smith, Kristina Smith and sister-and-law Pauletta Spence Thompson. Her grandmother Maureen Smith, aunties Kimberly Perdue-Sims, Kristal Smith and Kathy Smith. Her nephews Kaleb Smith, Jeremiah Thompson and niece Emori Thompson. Along with many more loving and caring family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions Louisville, KY (Dixie Hwy). Her memorial service will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions Louisville, KY (Dixie Hwy).
Kandice's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
