June Lee (McArthur) Bates, 86, of Louisville, passed away at home on May 7, 2012 to be with her Heavenly Father.
She worked at Southern Bell Telephone Co. and Bacons Dept. Store. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of Fern Creek Homemakers Club and Highland Park Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lee "Nick" McArthur. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Jack Kenton Bates; son, Dale K. Bates; daughters, Diane Bates Ruffra and Lee Ann Bates Helton (Troy); and six grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren Bates, Tyler Ruffra, Heather, Hunter and Hallie Helton.
Funeral ceremony will be Friday, 11 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 11-8 at the funeral home and Friday from 10:00 am until time of service. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
