Julia Ann Kelly was born on August 22, 1948 to the late Elsie Mae McMickens and Paul H. Strange, Sr. in Louisville, Kentucky as Julia Ann Strange.
She received her education from the Jefferson County Public School System. Julia worked and retired from Transit Authority of River City (TARC) for 22 years as a coach operator. Her compassion and servant heart lead her to a career in the health industry. She worked and retired from Jewish Hospital as a patient transporter. Julia always had a willingness to help others and became a well-loved and appreciated caregiver for many families. She was also an amazing cook for Kreative Kidz Learning Center where she was known as "Granny."
She is survived by six daughters; Letitia McBroom, Victoria Jewell, Renee McBroom, Regina Cole, Tara Hunter, Zena Smith; one son, William M. McBroom, Jr.; one bonus son, Joe Mason, Jr.; one sister, Ada Hunt; two brothers, Paul H. Strange, Jr. (Denise) and Bud T. Jenkins, Jr; great-nephew, Brandon Strange; great-niece, Trace Strange. Julia leaves to cherish her 30 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, two very long time special friends, Mrs. Judith Rosenberg and Mr. Sheldon Yoffe, along with many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Rebecca Stewart; husband, Dallas J. Kelly "Buster;" and bonus daughter, Barbara Mason.
Mrs. Julia Kelly will truly be loved and missed forever by so many. She was a very active church member. She loved and cherished her time with family and friends. Julia was always present and showed up for others by always ready to lend a helping hand. You could always count on Mrs. Kelly. She loved attending the family engagement events when she was able to and the family always loved her presence. Momma was a joy to be around, with many memories and great love that will live on forever and ever. Amen. Glory to the Highest! Halleujah!!
Visitation for Julia will be Saturday April 5, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. A service of Julia's life will be held the same day at 2:00 p.m.
