Judy Kay Stroud, a cherished soul and an illustrious figure in the community of Louisville, Kentucky, transitioned to eternal rest on March 23, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on May 3, 1949, she personified warmth, laughter, and boundless creativity throughout her life, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
For almost six decades, Judy devoted herself to the art of hairdressing, owning two renowned beauty shops famously named First Impression. In this nurturing environment, she cultivated lasting relationships with her clients, who she adored like family. Each year, she hosted an annual Christmas party at her shop, a celebration that brought joy, laughter, and a sense of community to those in attendance. Judy's passion for her craft was not merely a profession; it was a testament to her vibrant spirit and the deep connections she forged throughout her career.
Judy's personality shone brightly, as she could always make those around her laugh, effortlessly inspiring smiles and lifting spirits. She was a one-of-a-kind individual, celebrated not just for her talents but for her unparalleled ability to find joy in life's simplest pleasures. A lover of the outdoors, she found solace in nature, particularly when fishing or visiting the creek in Valeene, Indiana, where countless memories were made. Her love for gardening added color and vibrancy to her life, which was clearly evident on the front porch and back deck where she enjoyed her morning pot of coffee. Her unique style—characterized by glitter, rhinestones, mirrors, and all things bedazzled—reflected her exuberant character.
Among her myriad passions, Judy had a profound affection for her beloved dogs: Penny times 3, Precious, Macy and Lacy, Sophie and Zoey, who provided her endless companionship and joy. Additionally, she treasured her stunning 1956 Ford Thunderbird, her chariot that symbolized freedom and adventure, embodying her spirited nature.
Above all, Judy was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren, a testament to her legacy of love and nurturing. Each accomplishment of theirs filled her heart with joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Stella Aberli; sister, Patricia Ann Embry and son-in-law, Gary Williams.
Judy leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband of 39 years, Terry Stroud; children, Laura Mae (Barry) Sommer Williams, Steve Patrick (Nikki) Sommer, and April (Billy) Bensing; nephew, Brian Allen (Dawn) Embry; great-nephew, Welsey Scott; grandchildren, Kevin Williams, Alex (Leanna) Williams, Sommer Rae Williams, Garrett Williams, Delaney Williams, Nicole Ann Sommer, Steven Grant Sommer, Hunter Hardison, Cameron Hardison, Ryder Hardison and Leah Bensing; great- grandchildren, Oscar, Jack, Maddie Jo, Zayden, and Hendrix; and her dearest friend, Deborah Davis.
