Judith Anne Lovelace

September 18, 1943 — July 20, 2023

Judith Anne Lovelace was born September 18, 1943 in Nankin Township, Michigan and died on July 20, 2023 at the age of 79, while a resident at Everlan in Louisville where she made many close friends.

A 1961 graduate of Waggener High School, Judy attended the University of Kentucky from 1961-1965. She was one of the earliest basketball players on the UK Lady Cats team and was a lifelong fan of UK sports. In 1966 she joined the Jefferson County Board of Education where she spent her career helping disadvantaged youth and supervising educational programs at treatment facility schools throughout the county. In 1985 Judy became the Principal of the Cardinal Treatment Center and in 1993 a new educational building called the Lovelace Learning Center was dedicated to her honoring her 27 years of work in the Cabinet of Human Resources' school programs.

In her retirement years she loved to travel and took great joy in bringing her family together for meticulously planned family reunions. In addition to her family one of her other great joys throughout her life was being in the company of dogs; ones she owned or ones who just visited. She also especially loved the time she spent at church whether she was singing in the choir, serving as the handbell and choral librarian or producing church dramas. One of her greatest enjoyments was putting on plays with the Young Hearts group. Judy was most recently a member of the Fern Creek Baptist Church. Her time spent at church was so fulfilling to her and her church friends were a very important part of her life.

She is survived by her brother Barry Neideffer and his wife Pat, her sister-in-law Carol Neideffer, her 5 nieces and nephews,10 grandnieces and nephews, her longtime caregiver Cammy Butler and many close friends.

She was predeceased by her brother David Neideffer, her mother and fathers Thelma Neideffer, Robert Neideffer, and James Lovelace, and her closest friend and roommate, Gerie Eve.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 7 PM at the Fern Creek Baptist Church at 5920 Bardstown Road, Louisville Ky.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fern Creek Baptist Church or the Louisville Humane Society.
