Juanita Volz

Juanita Faye Volz, age 63 passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2010 in Louisville, Ky. She was born in Frederick, Maryland to Madeline Faye Carter and the late Richard A. Smith. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her nephew Johnnie Dorsey III and her brother-in-law Harry M. Shank.

She retired after 28 years with GEICO Insurance, was a member of the Elks Club in New Albany, IN and a member of the American Legion Auxilliary in Frederick, Md. She loved being a homemaker and was known as an excellent cook.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her devoted husband, John E. Volz whom she always said was the love of her life; her sons, Richard E. Mitts (Sandra) of Eatonton, Ga, Kurt Petterson (Michelle) of Greenville, SC, her stepson, John E. Volz, Jr. of Macon, Ga; her grandchildren, Richard, Samantha and Jonathan Mitts, and Leah, Lydia and Eric Petterson, and Kari Volz; her sisters, Sandy Daugherty (Wayne) of Louisville, Ky., Connie Shank of Rocky Mount, NC, and Ricki Putman (Donald) of Frederick, Md.; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
