Juanita Margaret Burgan ("DeeDee"), age 83 of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Monday morning, November 27, 2023 surrounded by her family at her residence.
She was the most loving wife & the best mother on this earth one could ask for & one of world's best cook's, seamstress, craftiest, best painter & made the best wedding cake a girl could ask for! And had a heart of gold & was a stronger believer in giving people second chances. She was born in Oldham County, Kentucky to John E. Smith & Vivian Truman. Preceded in death by her parents John E. Smith & Vivian Truman-Callis; step-parents, L. Kate Smith & Jack Callis; grandparents, Margaret & G. Maurice Truman, Frank & Lilly Smith; sister, Thelma Barnett; brother, Johnny Smith; and son, Robert C Burgan.
Juanita is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Charles D. Burgan; daughter, Pat Burgan-Dankhoff; son, Daniel W. Burgan; sister, Theo Burgan; brother, Russell Coleman Smith (Paula); 5 Grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces & nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6pm on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Juanita's life will be at Newcomer at 11am on Monday, December 4th with burial to follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
Juanita's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
