Joyce Carol "Sugar" Ford, 67, of Louisville, KY, passed away on February 14, 2024.
She was deep in faith and had a strong relationship with Our Lord and gave her life to God at an early age and was baptized at West Adams Four Square Church in Los Angeles.
She graduated from Kalani High School in Honolulu, Hawaii and went to Honolulu Community College where she took up sewing as a profession. She worked at Sun Fashions of Hawaii for three years until the family moved to Louisville, Kentucky. She worked at M. Fine and Sons in New Albany, Indiana.
Sewing was her passion as she designed and sewed most of the nieces prom dresses. She also loved traveling, going to beaches and spending time with other family members in other states. She also loved the casinos. Celebrating holidays and birthdays were a thing she looked forward to every year. Just enjoying time with family was very important to her.
Born on December 14, 1956 in Los Angeles, California to Samuel and Elizabeth (Jones) Ford, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her Mother {Elizabeth Ford} Father {Samuel Ford, Jr.} Siblings: Eugene Francis, Samuel Ford, III, Anita Maria Ford, and James Ellis Ford.
Joyce is survived by her siblings: LeMerle Ford, Jewel Smotherman, Dorothy Ann Ford, Norman Lewis Ford, Arnetta Ford-Puryear, Charles Robert (Martha) Ford, Lita Yvonne Ford-Ward, Larry Leon Ford, Janice Maye Ford-Pickett, Don Alfred Ford, Phyllis Jean Ford-Newbolt, and Naomi Ruth Ford-Satterfield, Sister-in-law Shawn (James) Ford, as well of a very large host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will cherish her loving memory forever.
Visitation will be March 1, 2024, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 11am-1pm with a celebration of Sugar's life beginning at 1pm.
Sugar will be laid to rest at Green Meadows Cemetery, 3800 Shanks Lane, Louisville, KY.
Joyce's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
