Joyce Loraine Bergstrom

Joyce Loraine Bergstrom, 90, of Fairdale, Kentucky passed away on Sunday evening, December 10, 2017. She was born in Covington, Kentucky on September 23, 1927 to the late Robert and Sophia (Reid) Gambrell. Joyce grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and was a longtime active member of Southern Hills Church of the Nazarene (formerly Southside). She was a godly woman, selfless, loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Kenneth Gambrell, and three sisters, Gladys Smith, Virginia Hyde, and Lucille Hyde.

Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Edwin Bergstrom, Sr.; her devoted children, Jane Lawless (Michael), Brenda Eilers (Kenneth), Edwin Bergstrom, Jr. (Cheryl), and Theodore Bergstrom (Carolyn); eight grandsons; twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bobbie, Franklin, and Carl (Rudy) Gambrell.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Joyce will be held Saturday, December 16th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218.
