Joy I.(Hoover) Chism

Joy I. (Hoover) Chism, 65, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday morning, September 1, 2016. She was very family oriented and enjoyed karaoke. Joy had a passion for music and song-writing.

She was born on July 8, 1951 in New Albany to the late George and Orpha (House) Hoover. Joy was also preceded in death by her brother, Everett Hoover. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bobby Chism; daughter, Deanna Chism; siblings, Carol Sweet (Jerry), Theresa Hoover, Lisa Kestler (Todd); grandchildren, Christiana Youngs (Tyler), Candice, Mason; great-granddaughter, Ivy, with a great-grandson, Thomas, on the way.

Visitation will be from 11 AM to 6 PM on Sunday, September 4, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM Monday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Mount Tabor Cemetery in New Albany.

Joy also possessed a love for all animals. Contributions in her memory may be made to the New Albany/Floyd County Animal Shelter (215 W. Market Street, New Albany, IN 47150).
