Joy Graves Dickson

Joy Graves Dickson, age 91 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024.  Joy was born on September 23, 1933 to the late Roy and May Graves.  She was a graduate of Waddy High School.  She started her career as an entry level bank teller to become an officer of the bank, retiring in 1995.  She and her late husband, Jack Dickson moved to Arizona to live having returned with Jack's illness.

Joy, a religious believer, helped found Chenoweth Park Baptist Church, and attended Southeast Christian and Westport Road Baptist Churches. Until she was physically unable, she volunteered with Southeast Lifebridge Program as well as Westport Road Baptist Church's Food Bank.  Joy found peace in her faith, family and friends.    

In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her grandson, Nick; her five siblings, Roy, Louise, Lois, Butch and Julie, and son-in-law, Mark.  

Joy is blessed by two children, Barry (Donna) and Laura; two step-children, Jackie and Karen; two grandchildren, Andrea, and Courtney;  and five great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

A gathering to celebrate Joy's life will be Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 1pm to 4pm, with sharing memories at 2pm at Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Rd, Louisville, Kentucky 40241.
