Josephine "Jo" Jackson

Josephine "Jo" Jackson, a beloved fixture in her family and community, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the age of 87, with her beloved sister by her side in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on October 23, 1937, in Crestwood, Kentucky, she was a person whose warmth and compassion touched the lives of everyone she met.

A dedicated homemaker, Jo exemplified the spirit of nurturing and love in all that she did. Education was important to her, and she attended Eastern High School, where her kindness would begin to shine brightly. Jo embraced her Christian faith wholeheartedly, serving at Jeffersontown Baptist Church, where her generous heart found another outlet for giving. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her church; she volunteered at Wayside Christian Mission, showcasing her desire to support those in need.

Jo fondly held close her time spent with her devoted sister, Katherine O'Nan, particularly during the holiday season, when their shared laughter and memories illuminated their family gatherings. She cherished every moment catching up with neighbors and friends, a testament to her sociable nature and love for connection. Jo was not just a friend and sister; she was a pillar of strength, and her nurturing demeanor made her the heart of her family.

The intrinsic qualities that characterized Jo’s life—her giving spirit, her loving nature, and her compassionate heart—will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. While she deeply mourns the loss of their beloved sister and friend, Katherine will carry forward Jo’s legacy of love and kindness.

Jo is predeceased by her father, Herbert Jackson; her mother, Mary Jackson; and her brother Edward Lee Jackson. Each one profoundly shaped her character and values, and a piece of them will always reside within her family.

The visitation will take place on January 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr., Louisville, KY 40243. As those who knew and loved Jo gather to celebrate her life, they reflect on the wonderful moments shared and the gentle love she imparted, cherishing her memory now and always.
