Joseph Robert "Bob" Wimsatt, 67, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011 surrounded by family and friends. A 1961 graduate of New Albany High School, Bob owned Harshfield Bros. Produce, Inc. in New Albany. He served on the New Albany Floyd County Board of School Trustees from 1980-84 and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Ritter Council #1221. He was a long-time member of St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs. A loving husband, father, brother, and friend to all, he was known for his generosity and devotion to the community. Bob treasured his days of boating, riding horses and spending time outdoors with family and friends.
Bob was born on October 1, 1943 in Mineral Wells, Texas to the late Joseph Richard and Clara Helen (Ray) Wimsatt. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Linda Frances Wimsatt, Janet Thomas, Donna LaHue and Steve Wimsatt.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Theresa L. (Fink) Wimsatt; daughters, Linda Sue Wimsatt of New Albany and Kristie M. Pellman and her husband, Jerry of Floyds Knobs; son, Robert J. "Bobby" Wimsatt and his wife, Holly of Floyds Knobs; brothers, Mike Wimsatt of Floyds Knobs, John Wimsatt of Greenville, Indiana, and Bill Wimsatt of Florida; sisters, Sheila Schmidt, Jean Tevis, Joan Foster, Rita Tooley, all of Georgetown, Indiana, Mary Paul of Florida, Esther Fredericks of Corydon, Indiana, and Maureen Pierce of Colorado; and grandchildren, Theresa and Kristin Marr, Christopher, Sean, and Nolan Pellman, Bobby Wimsatt, Jr., and Logan Johnson.
Visitation will be from 12 to 8 PM on Monday, March 27, 2011 and after 9 AM on Tuesday at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. His Funeral Mass will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 28 at St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
