Joseph R."Joe" Book

Joseph R. "Joe" Book, 54 passed away on August 13, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. Joe could be described as a jack-of-all-trades, selflessly giving to others and enjoying the work he did on the family farm. A self-employed carpenter, he framed houses by profession and was a former employee of Kime's Construction in New Albany. He was a member of St. Joseph Hill Catholic Church in Sellersburg.
Joe was born on October 7, 1957 in New Albany to Raymond S. Book and the late Mary Margaret (Popp) Book. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lorraine Book, and brother, Marvin Book.
Along with his father, Joe is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Jochim (Jeremy), Sarah Beranek (Ross), Beth Book; sisters, Mary Eurton (Jim), Barbara Burgin (Mark), Carol Hamm (Eric), Doris Konermann (Paul); grandchildren, Nate and Cora Jochim; and former wife and good friend, Terri (Bulleit) Akers.
Visitation will be from 12 to 8 PM on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday at St. Joseph Hill Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
