Joseph Michael Marks

July 8, 1943 — December 13, 2020

Joseph Michael Marks, age 77, a born-again Christian, loving father, adoring grandfather/great grandfather and friend to many, died peacefully and painlessly on December 13, 2020 in his daughter Michelle's family home in Louisville Kentucky after a short battle with cancer.

Joe was born to Joseph William and Lillian Marks on July 8,1943 in Dayton Ohio. After graduating from Chaminade High School in 1961 Joe went to work as a car salesman. He spent his life working in two areas that always kept his interest, cars and food. He owned car lots in Miamisburg and West Carrollton and even during "semi-retirement," he worked part time selling cars for a good friend. But many friendships grew from Joe's love of food and the family restaurant he and most of the family worked at called Angelina's Pizza House. Joe later purchased the restaurant from his father and proceeded to put his own touch on the menu, in part by naming a pasta dish after his daughter called "Spaghetti Alla Michelina." Besides the family restaurant Joe also owned and operated at least four other restaurants and ran a successful catering business.

In 1983 Joe's proclivity for sin was forfeited to Jesus Christ, as he placed his trust in Christ and began a new life's journey. He spent much of his time in church and Bible studies. He loved discussions about the Lord and found himself in such conversations often. Joe's faith impacted many as he was intentional about loving others as Christ loved them. He would even find subtle ways to do this like adding Philippians 4:13 at the end of a personal letter which says "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," or next to his signature in a birthday card he would write the acronym "JLY," which meant Jesus Loves You. Joe will be missed by many, but his friends and family would all testify that he is happier being with his Savior in heaven than he's ever been. And that brings comfort.

Joseph Marks is preceded in death by both his parents Joseph William and Lillian Marks

Joseph Marks is survived by his only daughter Michelle Woodward, her husband Andrew Woodward; their six children Zachary (his wife Danielle and child Maisie) Joshua, Rebekah, Michael, Rachel and Esther; and his two sisters Rosemary Powell and her six children, and Virginia Wheeler and her seven children.
