April 29, 1926 — March 19, 2014

Joseph Lee Benge, 87, of Charlestown, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. He retired from the Clark County School Corporation and was a United States Army veteran that proudly served his country during WWII. Joe enjoyed fishing as well as traveling with his companion, Jewell.

Joe was born on April 29, 1926 in Letcher County, Kentucky to the late Benjamin and Dora (Collins) Benge. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Irene H. (Hall) Benge; and siblings, Jack Benge, Roy Benge, and Rosella Adams.

He is survived by his children, Rick (Libby), Jack (Jackie), Valerie Benge, Ben Holbrook, Robert Benge; sister, Pat Morgan; grandchildren, Joshua, Mandy, Sarah, Emmy, Brian, Caleb, Aaron, Jack, Stephanie; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 PM to 6 PM Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). His Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Monday at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Lebanon National Cemetery.
