Joseph "Joe" Lee Moody

August 4, 1991 — February 25, 2025

Louisville

Joseph Lee Moody, 33, passed away February 25, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Joe was born in Decatur, Alabama on August 4, 1991. He grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Joe attended Oak Grove High School, but his interests were always outside of the classroom. Joe was a skilled skateboarder and had dexterity like no other. He was even once recruited to a pro-skateboarding league. After school, Joe showed an immense interest in maintenance work. He enjoyed doing these things to help others. He could fix anything, from things around the house to automobiles. He always said you can learn anything on YouTube. Joe loved playing video games and drawing. Fallout was his favorite video game. Joe cared deeply for his family and for animals. He cared for his mother, Laura Shein, throughout her battle with cancer, always bringing her flowers and presents and doing whatever he could to make her smile. Joe would also bring home any animal he found, ensuring they had a home and were cared for. Joe devoted himself to his family, especially to protecting his older brothers and little sister. From childhood to adulthood, he always stayed by their side and enjoyed spending every moment with them. After Joe’s older brother Nathan’s passing, he stepped up and took care of everything. He did everything without ever having to be asked, with a smile and an easy-going attitude. Joe will always be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, charismatic attitude, his contagious laughter, and most of all his caring soul. May He Rest In Peace knowing how deeply loved and missed he is. Life will never be the same without him. Until we meet again.

Joe is preceded in death by his brother, Nathan Moody; his dad, Howard Lee; his grandparents, Dr. Melvin and Lillian Shein; the love of his life, Mackenzie Mason; and his best friend, Zack Sanders.

Joe is survived by his beloved mother, Laura Shein; sister Megan Ann Shein; brother Zack Moody; aunts, Denise Shein and Debra Dickerson. He is also deeply missed by his fur babies Stella, Loulou, and Bubbles.
