Joseph James Ruttle, 78, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday,July 11, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He retired from Marine Electric and was a long-time member of IBEW Local 369. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and United States Army veteran that proudly served his country during the Korean War, as a tank instructor with 894th Tank Battalion. Joe was a member of the VFW Post 3281, the American Legion Post 28, and formally the Redman's Club. He enjoyed visiting Vic's with his friends, for his morning coffee, loved playing golf and making wind chimes.
He was born on October 2, 1936 in Fall River, Massachusetts to the late Joseph and Catherine (Gavigan) Ruttle. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Michaeline Price and Robert Ruttle.
Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wanda (Baumann) Ruttle; children, Karen Prechtel, Joe Ruttle, Rob Ruttle (Denise); grandchildren, Kristin Bobay (Chris), Kelli Sutherland (Seth), Kara Dorsett (Boone), Jordan Miller (Michael), Sarah Ruttle, Garrett Ruttle; and great-grandchidlren, Curtis, Kate, Andrew, and Caleb, several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 10 AM on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
