Jonathan Cecil "Big John" Hoskins, aged 66, of Beattyville, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on April 5, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Jonathan was a devoted father, brother, and beloved Papaw, who cherished his family and held a strong faith in the Lord. He was a proud member of Bear Track Bible Mission Church, where he found comfort and community.
Born on January 22, 1959, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jonathan was a talented automotive mechanic, turning his passion into a rewarding career. He had an enduring love for music, particularly his favorite band, Blue Oyster Cult. Jonathan's adventurous spirit shone through his passion for riding motorcycles, even in the face of life's many challenges.
Most importantly, Jonathan was a man of deep faith and immense love for his family. He created lasting memories with his grandchildren, who fondly remember him as "Papaw John." His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Helen Brown; birth mother, Cleo Hoskins; honorary mother, Ann Lee Mason; twin brother, Jimmy Lee Hoskins; and brothers, Rick Bays and Bobby Bays.
He is survived by his loving family, including his daughter, Elizabeth (Jeremiah Shuler) Hoskins; son, Jonathan Rudy Hoskins; grandchildren, Rebekah Vires, Jennifer Jones, Yolonda Hoskins, Oceaniah Hoskins, Destiny Snowen, Jase Snowen, and Lee Ann Snowen; sister, Judy Lancaster; brothers, Ron Cox, John (Barb) Brown, Mike Bays, and Woodrow (Rita) Abner; the mother of his children, Pearl Hoskins; and a special lifelong friend, Ray Null, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Jonathan's legacy of love and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
