Johnny Opa Martinez

Johnny "Opa" Martinez, 87, passed away on January 11, 2024. He was a retired Army veteran who proudly served his country during the Korean and Vietnam War. Johnny loved his family deeply and was always full of life. He had a strong faith in God and believed in prayer. Johnny never met a stranger, he loved to share stories and had a great sense of humor. He was an avid Cowboys and Kentucky Wildcats fan. Johnny will be deeply missed, but will forever live in our hearts.

Johnny leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Margarete Warren; children, Tania (Kirk Brickle) Engler, Sandra Irizarry, John Michael Martinez, Diana Williams, Benita Jones and Eddie (Tanya Hood) Warren; grandchildren, Alex Warren, Matthew Warren, Maci Warren, Chris Dennis, Kyle Engler, Kaydence Engler, Anthony Jones, Stevie (Carlie) Jones and Shane Jones; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Jesse Martinez and sister, Juanita Garza.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 1pm-5pm with a celebration of Johnny's life beginning at 3pm.
