John U. Kruer, 84, of Floyds Knobs, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was an army veteran of WWII, a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church.
John was born on January 29, 1928 in Floyds Knobs to the late John H. and Anna (Koopman) Kruer. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Martina J. Kruer; siblings, Raymond, Leo, Louie Kruer, Agnes Book, and Sr. Mary Ann Kruer, OSB.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann (Banet) Kruer; children, Nancy McGarvey (Mike), Dennis Kruer (Paula), Mark Kruer (Karen), John Kruer (Crystal), Laura Lea Sweney, Amy Jo Lindsey (Tony); siblings, Ed Kruer (Martha), Dorothy Frieders (Bob), and Birdie Hoehn; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 to 8 PM on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a rosary prayed at 4PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs with burial and military honors to follow in the church cemetery.
