John Wolfe Snyder passed away on June 25, 2022 peacefully at home. He was 93 years young, born October 09, 1928 in Coal Township, Pennsylvania to Corrine A. Wolfe and John D. Bolich. Following the passing of his mother in 1935, his maternal Grandparents William and Malinda Snyder adopted him.
John's Grandparents and Aunts imparted the importance of education in his formative years. He graduated from Shamokin High School, Shamokin Pennsylvania in 1946. He received his college degree from Lycoming College in 1952.
Upon graduation, John served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After leaving the service, he was employed at the Wright Air Development Center who sponsored him to attend the University of Florida for his Masters in Engineering degree and the Oak Ridge School of Reactor Technology "Atoms for peace" program, graduating in 1958.
John married the love of his life Kathleen J. Jones in 1951. Together in life for 67 years, Kathleen preceded him in death in 2019.
After years of working in government defense agencies, and private manufacturing, John returned to the field of education. He taught at various college institutions in Louisville, Kentucky. He loved teaching young adults mathematics and engineering. His students kept him young; his teaching gave him resolved purpose.
John was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, a compatriot in the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, a thirty-third degree Freemason, and a member of the Scottish Rite. John was also an active member of Mended Hearts, an organization inspiring hope and improvement of the quality of life of heart patients and their families.
John is survived by his sons, Jon W. Snyder (Patricia), of Louisville, Kentucky and David R. Snyder (Geri), of Leander, Texas; grandchildren, Logan M. Snyder (Emily), Noah J. Snyder (Jessica), and Carla Mae Snyder; great-grandsons, Colin H. Snyder and Brandt E. Snyder.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
