John W. Smith

John W. Smith, 85, passed away on August 3, 2023. He was a truck driver for over 34 years and a dedicated Mason for over 60 years. John loved watching and going to NASCAR races with his son Mark. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing country music; he never missed a word to "I've Been Everywhere" John liked fishing, boating, camping and being outdoors. John could always put a smile on your face and never met a stranger. He had a strong will

He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Randall Smith; nephew, Timmy Glover; parents, Ben and Lillie Smith and sisters, Betty Winn and Janette Glover.

John is survived by his former wife and the mother of his children, Judy Smith; children, Robbie (John) Simon and John P. (Kelly) Smith; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, August 11, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 2pm-8pm. There will be a Masonic service beginning at 6pm. A celebration of John's of life will be Saturday, August 12, 2023, beginning at 11am.

Following the service, John will be laid to rest at New Liberty Cemetery, 805 Cave Ridge - New Liberty Road, Knob Lick, KY, beginning at 1pm Central Standard Time.
