John William Shepherd, Sr.

John William Shepherd, Sr., 69, loving father and grandfather, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. He retired from LG&E and was a United States Army veteran. John was considered a hero to many and will be greatly missed.

He was born on July 3, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Alex, Sr., and Hazel (Colwell) Shepherd. John was also preceded in death by his wife, Cyndi Reed-Shepherd.

John is survived by his sons, John Shepherd, Jr., and his wife Desiree and John Reed and his wife Sheena; siblings, Alex, Dora, and Joyce; grandchildren, Justin Reed, Alexis Reed, Stephanie Zipp, and James Zipp.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 10:00 a.m. His Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
