John M. Nance

John M. "Smokey" Nance, 88, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Saturday evening, October 30, 2010 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. He was a former employee of Graf Grocery Store in New Albany. John was an animal lover and enjoyed walking around town where he would collect odds and ends.

He was born on May 15, 1922 in New Albany, Indiana to the late John W. and Catherine J. (Black) Nance. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Walter Nance, Frank Nance, Doris Jones, Louis E. Nance, Edna Shireman and Nettie Reardon.

John is survived by his brother, Robert Nance of New Albany; sisters, Mary Mashtare of Plattsburg, New York and Dorothy Nance of New Albany; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His Visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southern Indiana Chapel (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). The Funeral Service will be 11 AM on Thursday in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr. Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.
